-Common sense rules prevail. Contact RGVCU during business hours if you have completed a transaction and suspect that your card or PIN may have been comprised.
-Be aware of your available account balances. RGVCU offers a FREE RGVCU Mobile App and CardValet for members to keep track of their account via mobile phones.
-Update your address and cell phone information with every card issuer that you do business with.
-Use caution when speaking to someone on the phone who reaches out to you as a bank representative. Criminals portray themselves as helpful payment card reps so that they can steal your personal information.
-Next time you are using an ATM or paying at the gas pump, give the card reader a firm handshake and if it wiggles use a safer alternative to pay.
-Covering your "PIN" entry can help keep any nearby cameras from capturing what you enter.
-While there are various ways that your financial information can get stolen, be proactive before conducting an online transaction and make sure that they website is encrypted. Many web browsers use a lock icon to the left of the web address to indicate that the connection is secure.
-Be aware when conducting online transaction using a public WIFI. Never save your information on a public WIFI.
-Make sure you verify websites before you enter your personal information.
-Be cautious of the information you share on social media.
-Be vigilant with your smartphone and personal information. Password protection and logging out of accounts on your cell phone are important.
